Beautiful universe, interesting characters, scenarized and rewarding sidequests. It's just a bit too big for me, or at least disproportionate. Less sidequests and more details brought to the races would've been a good example. Good game and a reconciliation with the AC universe for me.

But it's got me hooked and I've just started AC Odyssey.The combat is very good but often rather unchallenging. The missions are enjoyable and not too long-winded. There's an interesting array of weapon and skill choices and I really cared about the characters I met.I did not have an issue with grind as others mention, I just played the game as I wanted and easily out-levelled the content by the time I finished the last main story quest, and I still have a lot of areas yet to explore.As a vision of ancient Egypt, it doesn't get better than this and even though I have finished the main plot, I'll still keep on coming back for me just to enjoy this lovingly created world.

This killer holiday in Egypt is definitely no boring. On the contrary, it is a pleasant excursion to the times, when the sphinx had a nose, and mysterious killers did not call themselves assassins. You cannot find a nicer version of an Ancient Egypt in any other game, and up to it it’s entertaining. A modest family story affects the whole empire at the end, and you will forgive a handful of bugs to its charismatic heroes, as well as the fact, that you have played the same pattern so many times, just in another scenery.

Ubisoft Montreal managed to make Egypt not only beautiful, but extremely atmospheric. When you’re admiring the city and a mounted patrol rushes past you, you always get that urge to step aside to avoid getting trampled, even though you know you can eviscerate them all in a blink of an eye.

This is a relativity small aspect, but is a constant pain throughout, and is so blatantly incompetent that for a AAA game and large production co. as Ubisoft, it would be absurd to condone this in any way.

You can nit-pick all you like about the odd funny glitch here and there and some duff NPC dialogue, but Assassin’s Creed Origins is a near flawless open-world gaming experience.

Best game I've played since Witcher 3 and Horizon 0 Dawn. Glad I bought it (Standard Edition). Will be buying all the DLC depending on the content. Do yourself a favor and get this game.

Naturally, once you've beaten the main quests you can continue exploring the world, and the biggest compliment I can give Origins is that I'd much rather be playing it than writing about it. It's a got a dazzling and beautiful setting, lots of enjoyable systems for mischief and mayhem, and has just the right amount of diversions and distractions to keep you busy without ever feeling like busywork. The extra year Ubisoft took with Origins didn't result in a completely new and novel experience, but it did provide one of the best games in the Assassin's Creed series.

After a more than deserved rest, Assassin’s Creed makes its comeback with one of the best entries of the saga. Despite the story may not meet the expectations of some fans, its big and deep world alongside the new gameplay mechanics are enough reasons to give a chance to one of the best releases of Ubisoft on the actual generation of consoles.

Assassin’s Creed Origins manages to live up to the expectation that the preview event gave me. I dubbed it “near perfect” after that event, and the final product does not disappoint. A few pacing issues late in the story caused things to drag a little bit, and the loot system doesn’t remain intriguing after the first few hours, but finding a complaint beyond that is difficult. You can nitpick some of the graphical hiccups or complain about repetitive side quests, but even those manage to stay fun and interesting with all of the different styles of play. On a day with two other heavy hitting AAA games and an amazing TV show releasing simultaneously, your time and money are going to be precious commodities. With Game of the Year talks coming up, Assassin’s Creed Origins is a serious contender for the title in my book.

This is the best game in the Assassin’s Creed series. That extra year of development time has really helped Ubisoft find its creative centre again, and craft something that feels both fresh and energised. I could take or leave the shifts in gameplay to make this more like the loot-grind RPG-likes that dominate blockbuster game development now, but when Ubisoft is playing so beautifully within a fascinating period of history, all I care about is how utterly engrossed I am with the storytelling.

Origins is a great game that relies heavily on its setting to make an impact on the player. Its gameplay also evolves, and although it still has some of the issues the series have been suffering in the last few entries, it’s definitely a step in the right direction. If you’ve ever been interested in the series, don’t miss this one.

Origins doesn’t completely rebuild Assassin’s Creed, but makes a number of smart, significant changes to a formula that, despite yearly updates, was showing its age. The increased freedom in how you approach targets, the more active combat, and alluring world not only make exploring Egypt a rewarding experience, but also offer a strong direction for the series going forward while still remembering what made it unique in the first place.

After taking a year off, Assassin's Creed is going through a transitional period and taking players back to the very founding of the Brotherhood in Ancient Egypt is symbolic of that. The vast new setting, the improved combat system and moving the series towards being a real action RPG have injected this series with a new life.
