概要
指揮官よ、軍を編成せよ!CHECK vs. MATE は、チェスゲームの原理を現代のマルチメディアの世界に持ち込んだ、インタラクティブな羽根つきを求めています。アニメーションのファンタジーフィギュアが魔法の世界に集結し、あなたの命令を待っています。司令官として、ゲームボード上で巧みな作戦を実行し、チェスマン対チェスマンの破壊的な攻撃で直接戦いに身を投じるのです。
2012年にInterplay EntertainmentからIP侵害を理由に「Battle Chess」対「Battle vs Chess」で訴訟を起こされた後、ゲームとそのDLC/Editionは「Check vs. Mate」と名前を変え、北米でデジタル配信されました。
内容は同じだが、『Battle vs Chess』にはNAタイトルと連動しないSteamトレーディングカードが存在するため、Steamでは新タイトルとして2度目の掲載となった。
このため、オンラインストアによってゲームとそのDLC/EditionのSteamキーが異なるという問題が当時発生した。

Check vs. Mate could have been very good if the developers hadn't been lazy with character animations, or if someone had taken the time to write a legitimate story.

Check vs. Mate is a good game to check out if you enjoy playing combat/strategic style games that make you think and leave you upset when the computer beats you.
