Everything is laggy - even offline solo play. The story has some potential from the intro scenes, but that is not developed during gameplay. I gave up and uninstalled the game after a few hours of play. I'd rather go another round with Witcher 3 or Diablo 3 again than keep on playing this.

Enemies and bosses will often stand still while you kill them. The controls for special moves are terrible, and you often find your character executing crazy moves you had no intention of that get you killed. Even executing basic moves like charged shots doesn't register by the game half the time. Worst control responsiveness I've experienced in a game that I can remember, which is just a complete non-starter for a action game.There are many indications that this game was rushed or the developers were lazy. Slow contextual actions, like you can't click on ladders in combat for a few seconds, sometimes characters get stuck in animations, levels end with no indication that you're about to come across a boss fight. Multiplayer is a bit better, and that's obviously what the game was designed around. The mechanics are there to create a great synergistic combat system that requires teamwork, but it feels inept. I would give the multiplayer 4/10.Story is standard DnD fare, and was a bit juvenile.

Dark Alliance can lean on an enormous amount of lore. Many locations, friends, and enemies make an appearance. the level design is pretty good and challenges to explore. However, the game is held back by bugs and battles that just do not work. The game has huge potential but sadly falls short in execution.

Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance fails to live up to both the potential of its placement in the D&D canon and the legacy of the Dark Alliance name. As a mediocre-to-good game, depending on whether you’re alone or with friends, the whole experience is sluggish and dull in execution, and sails close to the average tabletop D&D session where you play for four hours and somehow only walk down a single corridor, but without the enjoyment that comes with that experience.

I can’t give a full recommendation if you plan on playing solo, but with a few friends Dark Alliance is a much richer and better experience, even with its current shortcomings. D&D fans should have enough here that will appease while casuals can still enjoy an entertaining dungeon crawler with some buddies, a perfect fit to try out with Game Pass as long as your group can agree which characters to play as beforehand.

There’s room on the market for mindless action, especially when it can be played with friends. I’m glad a game like Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance is on Game Pass because that’s the perfect way to get a group of friends playing together. I just wish that once they gathered, they had something better to play. Unfortunately, despite some parts of the game looking and sounding nice, there’s little else to recommend it. With awful AI, weightless combat, an unengaging story, and loot that feels inessential, the entire game is a slog. Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance doesn't ever feel like it is doing anything particularly new and the whole setting, concept, and world just seems a bit tired at times. But that said you’ll have some decent fun here, particularly with the story, the hack and slash gameplay, and solid mechanics. If you find yourself playing alone, it might get a bit stale, but with friends behind you, you’ll have a great time.

Not even close, but its nowhere near as bad as most are making it seem, its worth running through and playing by yourself or with friends, but there sadly is no life, in the form of content or loot to keep you playing beyond the final boss…I give Dungeons and Dragons Dark alliancea 6.5/10

I really had high hopes for this game, all the trailers looked good, gameplay looked good, honestly everything checked out for me, so I madeI really had high hopes for this game, all the trailers looked good, gameplay looked good, honestly everything checked out for me, so I made the purchase on launch, downloaded the game, I’m all smiles and extremely happy, then out of nowhere a huge dungeon & Dragon hand came through my tv slapped me in the face, the slap was for my expectations being too high, the slap was for expecting gameplay to be polished but instead is clunky, slow and no input response what so ever, the slap was for me spending $40 when the game is free on GamePass, but I wanted to get the platinum trophy on PlayStation. This game is a slap in the face, do not waste your time, I do not know how the developers can fix this game and obviously they do not care how the consumer feels considering all past game launch failures like anthem and cyberpunk, you would think they would want to put something out of a decent quality.

As a D&D nerd, I am blown away how the developers have brought the creatures and the setting to life. It feels like an interactive D&D-movie. The four characters are very well adapted from the novel and feel believable and alive. Using the PC version I did not encounter any severe gameplay-issues right now.

Ultimately, Dark Alliance is a flawed game that provides a perfunctory single-player experience that fails to dazzle or delight. While there is some depth and enjoyment deep within the heart of the multiplayer experience, Dark Alliance fails to provide the engrossing gameplay experience that is required in order to sustain the sort of long-term community clearly desired by the game’s creators. The developers are already planning to implement changes based on player feedback, on top of a planned expansion and fifth playable character, but the question then becomes how many will still be waiting in Icewind Dale?

For a small studio, the graphics look pretty good, some of the environment textures are very high quality. The melee combat has a lot of depth to it with how you can trigger various moves and abilities by comboing dodge, light and heavy attacks. The game is crossplay between xbox and pc, and the community is welcoming and helpful. Even playing with randoms, it can be quite a fun experience as a decent amount of players have mics and actually use them.You level up quite fast especially if carried by higher level players, maybe a little too fast as it seems like the game scales up the power level of level 1 players so that even they can take on higher level mobs when playing with others. At first the combat is quite challenging as large enemies can be quite tanky, but your power level quickly scales up after you complete the first level and get lots of loot.This is definitely a game that is meant to be played coop, as it is quite tough solo but even just having 1 partner changes the game. The quickplay matchmaking works but it doesnt try to match you with people of similar power level, so new players can easily be paired with a max level player and end up playing something much harder than they expect. If they make it through though, they end up jumping up 8 whole levels rather than working their way up one at a time, kind of a good and bad thing as max level is only 20 and you can hit it within just an hour or two if carried.Looting in the game is quite fun on the first playthrough as theres tons of side areas and side quests you can stumble onto and explore. It's a lot of fun hopping around with a party of new friends you just met and searching every corner for new loot and gear. Like other dungeon crawler games there are various qualities and sets you can collect and they offer a small bit of customization to choose the look of most gear, some are locked.The stamina mechanic is quite annoying at first as it feels like youre always running low, and the degrsding stamina bar when using special abilities is a questionable choice. I see how it forces you to make smarter decisions of what situations to use the abilities rsther than being able to spam them. Once you level up a bit though, and have better gear, you're stamina can regenerate fast enough that it isnt a problem anymore. The game has some jank here and there, the issue with disconnects from the party after each level that was there on day 1 mostly dont occur anymore. I havent experience any game breaking bugs and have only encountered a few small glitches but quite rare compared to what others have been saying.If you have gamepass and are looking for a simple and fun coop dungeon crawler, I highly recommended this.

Dark Alliance is a game that seems destined to be forgotten, which is a shame because there's a lot of old-school PS2-style fun to be had. Once split screen is patched in we can see ourselves going back to it regularly in order to relive those couch co-op days of yore, though the game is enjoyable solo as well if you choose your difficulty setting wisely. It's nothing to set the world on fire but it's a perfectly enjoyable throwback to dungeon crawling hack-and-slash classics that'll work for you all the more if you've got a group of friends who yearn to go back in time to a simpler experience. Future content updates will only improve Dark Alliance and we'd urge you to give it a try for yourself.

With some friends, you can have a lot of fun exploring Dungeons and Dragons: Dark Alliance without needing to roll any dice, but inconsistent combat and frustrating bosses make the experience more of an ordeal than it should be, not to mention unenjoyable by yourself.

A tragically awful attempt to revive the Dark Alliance name, with horribly repetitive combat, empty storytelling, and a dragon horde’s worth of bugs.

Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance has the potential to become a fun showcase for the long-running franchise. Despite the issues, none of these are game-breaking bugs, and it is a passable RPG. Now we just have to see if Tuque Games has what it takes to turn things around. Fans of Dungeons & Dragons, of which there are untold millions, will love the lore and story of Dark Alliance. Who knows if their love of the franchise will translate into enough sales to warrant a sequel? If so, then there is a lot of work to do, but we’ve seen plenty of comebacks before, and we’ll no doubt see more in the future. With any luck, in the not-too-distant future we’ll gather ‘round the virtual campfire and enjoy a higher-scored adventure in the Icewind Dale thanks to the lessons learned from Dark Alliance.

Dark Alliance’s problems go beyond enemies zipping around arenas and ragdolling randomly at breakneck speed into walls. Though, a lot of that can be quite funny. It fails to do basic things like scale difficulty for solo and group play, or do the normal thing of not giving ranged mage-like enemies drastically higher physical-defence ratings than large hulking brutes. There are so many things half-baked, broken, glitchy, or simply baffling it’s almost commendable.

On PS5 the game runs well even though the game needs to be polished in a few aspects. On ps4 pro it runs ok. The leap to next difficulty level is brutal and i think needs adjustment.However i love the D&D setting and the graphics are good, so is the sound. in the current state the game is worth a 6, but it has potential to be a solid 8. I'm having fun playing with my son and so is he. For us 2 coop has worked well and we haven't had any problems. Looking forward to a lot fixes and patches.

Dark Alliance needs a lot of work to truly warrant a playthrough and can only be recommended in its current state to massive fans of the book series who just want to know what happens in between books 1 and 2. The game itself is a masterpiece to look at, but falls short in the gameplay department, making this a tough sell for anyone who wasn't already going to pick it up and play simply based on its source material.

Overall, Dungeons & Dragon: Dark Alliance is a fantastic example of a third-person action RPG, offering a great amount of story and lore through varying missions. With only a few minor setbacks aside, I’d have no problem saying that Tuque Games has brought my Drizzt Do’Urden and companions fantasies to life in all of the best ways. I’ll be seeing this game through to the very end without a shadow of a doubt, and have no issue recommending it to anybody that enjoys action RPGs. Grab some buddies and head to Icewind Dale — you won’t regret it!

Dark Alliance is the type of game for people looking to blow off steam with their friends. It's such an exploration ride that I just wanted to keep playing it all day long. The fun combat and loot system kept me coming back even if it is a shame the story set in the D&D universe written by a prolific writer fails to live up to its potential. It's also baffling that almost no love was given to the game on the PS5 to utilize its power or even the DualSense controller.
