Just Dance 2022 brings with it the revamp players have been waiting for in choreography and scenarios to make the experience of the title much more enjoyable and to justify itself as a true sequel to the Just Dance franchise. The party is guaranteed to be on for buyers of the game.

When we got PS5 and got the camera adapter, all previous versions including the 2021, works great.When 2022 came out, we bought it from PS Store. Be warned, if you browse the store using PS5, the PS4 version is NOT LISTED there! You can only buy PS5 version. So we did.And what? And nothing. It doesn't support the camera! But I have it, the old PS4 camera, plugged via the adapter. Instead, the PS5 version makes you use your phone as a controller. The-worst-decission-ever!How am I supposed to risk damaging my phone? Give it to my kid? Or maybe find an old phone, make sure it's still compatible? Excuse me but this is madness. Nintendo Wii had motion controls and their WiiMotes have stripes around your hand so that when you shake the controller, it stays there even if it slips out of your grasp.Does your phone have a stripe? It's hard to recommend this game when it doesn't support any form of control scheme that is native to the PS5. Even though PS5 controllers have a gyroscope and accelerometer in them, similar to what is inside phones or joy cons, the game cannot be played with one. It is a basic feature that they should support. Further more, the PS5 camera is also not supported. So you need to play it with a mobile phone, which isn't actually mentioned on the game box, you need to go to their online help to learn that. So to play this game, you need a smartphone per player, they need to install an app who's permissions you have to agree to, and you better hope you don't drop the phone while playing.Frankly how they could make a game that doesn't let you play it with any of the console's own control schemes or accessories is a farce in my opinion.

The new songs are pretty nice, but everything else is more of the same. Also, if you really want to gain access to the whole game you have to subscribe to Just Dance Unlimited. Get it on sale.

Just Dance 2022 doesn’t change up the tried and tested formula of Just Dance too much but what it has added in terms of improved visuals has made for a more entertaining and immersive experience.

Aside from the in-your-face self-promotion, lack of evolution, and sketchy phone control, Just Dance 2022 retains the positive elements that have kept both would-be and accomplished dancers coming back for each new version. The starting setlist is relatively strong, and there are lots of options to craft the experience. How long the good times last probably depends on whether you’re willing to finally cave and buy into the Unlimited option to get your sweaty hands on those 700 other songs. There’s a way in which Just Dance 2022 feels more like a starter pack than a full game, but it’s still a great excuse for us sedentary endomorphs with multiple left feet to move and have fun.

Many Just Dance fans' prayers have been answered through the inclusion of several tracks that have been requested for years, especially fans of K-pop, who are able to dance to four new K-pop songs with their "official choreographies". However, in terms of modes and features that lie outside of the main game, the exact opposite is true. Those who have played the previous Just Dance entry, Just Dance 2021, will be quick to notice that the user interface has remained identical. In fact, it has not changed at all since its initial use in Just Dance 2019. Furthermore, there appears to be a lack of new gameplay modes within this installment, nor do modes introduced in previous games make a reappearance, such as Mash-Ups or Battle mode. Existing game modes, such as the World Dance Floor and Quick Play mode, are left completely unchanged. It's also worth noting that the Kids mode, which has become a staple of the games since the 2018 entry, has not been updated either. Instead, dance routines created for earlier versions of Kids mode are simply reused. Another feature making a return is the gift machine, in which one can spend 150 coins, a reward gained by leveling up, to unlock various profile customization options such as avatars, skins, and titles, which are merely cosmetic. In previous entries, alternative dances to certain songs were available as a reward from the gift machine, but now, one must simply get a high enough score on those songs or play them enough times to unlock the alternatives. Sure, practicing to get every last "perfect" on the extreme dances and competing against others online for the best score is fun for a while, but once you have eventually mastered each dance and had your fun, you are left with little incentive to continue playing, that is, unless you purchase the Just Dance Unlimited subscription service, which the game reminds you of quite constantly. In my opinion, though, paying the yearly subscription (even only once) for the vast catalog of songs from previous entries is a pretty decent deal, especially for those who feel nostalgia for the previous games or for newcomers who wish to have that experience for the very first time. There is also a collection of songs that are exclusive to the service and are not present in any previous games, which may be pretty irresistible for hardcore fans looking for everything Just Dance has to offer. Just Dance 2022 is once again the best way to stay in shape. As every year, its arrival at home is a family activity that we enjoy very much.

Ultimately, you likely know what you’re in for with Just Dance 2022. There are a great range of new songs here, with some fun and challenging choreography and nice new visual styles that freshen things up somewhat. Add in Unlimited and you’ve potentially a game to last you a lifetime – if you’re willing to pay up. If you’ve not been won over up to now then this isn’t the game to change your mind, but fans of the series can expect yet another solid entry to enjoy until next year’s release.

It’s November and Just Dance is with us again. And it’s great news, because it’s as much fun as usual. Just don’t expect any innovations.

Just Dance 2022 is a dance without a revolution, but what a dance, ladies and gentlemen. Strengthened by a sensational line-up that ranges from the old glories of the past to the new stars of the present (even virtual ones), the last chapter of the series focuses on the quality of the selected pieces and on choreographies of indisputable specific weight. The various levels of difficulty ensure an experience within everyone's reach.

The whole business model leaves a bad taste in my mouth and otherwise tarnishes a near-perfect, joyful experience. It also makes it that much harder to recommend — I’m loving it right this second, but that won’t be the case in a couple months. When my Unlimited trial lapses, I’ll then be locked down into a library that admittedly has bangers like Todrick Hall’s “Nail, Hair, Hips Heels”, Beyonce’s “Run the World (Girls)” and Justin Timberlake’s “Rock Your Body” but also has songs I’ve never ever heard of. Lots of those, actually… and simply knowing a song exists doesn’t necessarily mean I’ll enjoy it.
