The levelling is really satisfying and the combat is fun and intuitive. Although learning some controls comes down to reading a bunch of text which a video or some other tutorial would be preferable but the choice is understandable. Lock picking on the other hand is terrible but luckily it’s an open world game so there are other ways of unlocking locks such as pickpocketing. The start does have some redeeming quality’s such as an emotional event (no spoilers) and a rival which in turn made me feel really invested in the story which is also amazing with its character development and voice acting making characters feel like real people. If not for the average start and the lockpicking then this game would be a 10/10.

HITTING the target is another issue entirely, one that doesn't make sense all of the time. If my sword goes through somebody, literally through the graphic, and there is zero indication that I landed a hit. When I land a hit, there is sound, recoil, something- anything, but every now and then (often enough to not be an anomaly) my attack will just go THROUGH the NPC (Note this happens most with stabbing).Honestly, I'd give the game a 7/10 if it weren't for the autolocking issue. Steep learning curve, realistic enough, engaging story, revolutionary combat, historical accuracy and so much to do in the world. With an expansive story and memorable mechanics, it’s hard not to view Kingdom Come: Deliverance as one of the most interesting RPG releases in years. One where the difficulty is often a barrier to progress and some of the design choices become frustrating experiences in repetition or flat out giving up and moving on to another activity. Or reloading an earlier save to do more sword training. Rough around the edges sure, but the ambition often shines through.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance delivers a huge, complex world with a host of things to get involved in. The story is well written, brilliantly acted and expertly executed. I am worried that the buggy nature of the game will put many off and whilst the vast majority of the problems shouldn’t worry anyone too much, it can get a tad annoying.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a fantastic and absolutely frustrating experience. I was treated to a memorable lead character whose agency and development was largely wiped away with a twist late in the game and a collection of incredible gameplay mechanics and quests repeatedly stifled by bugs. Despite its downfalls, though, the good parts of the game are so good.

Ultimately, Kingdom Come feels a bit like homework. If the historical setting and focus on realism appeal to you, then the deep gameplay systems and methodical pace are worth learning. If you'd rather be a magic-wielding wizard or the unequivocal hero, on the other hand, the source material will bore you almost instantly.

Your actions/decisions really do dramatically affect how the world, and its people react to you.KCD strives for realism, and hits the mark in many ways. Technical issues, and bugs detract from this at times. However in my experience they can be overlooked, and worked around without much difficulty. Hand to hand combat can be a bit janky, and clunky at first, as it should be for any novice swordsman. As you play, leveling up your melee skills you become more proficient not only by player experience but, you unlock combos that once mastered make combat much more fluid, and free flowing. Archery is great from start to end, very realistic no cross hairs, you really have to know your stuff (practice hunting animals before people) to hit things reliably.Henry takes some time getting used to with the voice acting, and his mannerisms. I've grown used to him though. He reminds me of a 'good ol boy' of medieval times. He isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer but, gets a lot of points for effort.I feel like the world we get to play in in KCD is probably its best feature. I challenge any game to show me a better, more realistic, forest. The forests in KCD are absolutely 10/10. I find myself hunting game a lot as I enjoy exploring, and being in the wilds. The towns, and other areas are great too, and seem spot on for how you'd envision the era to be.

If you absolutely love simulators and really appreciate realism and the little details in games, then this will really grip you. But at the same time, many will find the game far too frustrating and unforgiving, both because of the intense focus on realism that doesn't always result in fun gameplay experiences, and the number of bugs and severe loading times. There's a compelling game here, but it needs a polished edge only a series of patches or a sequel can deliver. We can't wait for either.

Pre quest, mid quest and end quest load times are unacceptable! The combat system is clunky and unplayable. The character face animations do not match the voice acting. This game should not have been released in this condition. Don't get me started on the lack of a proper save system. There are so many instances of where they put supposed REALISM over fun. I have no problem with a game being hard to beat or play in order to promote REALISM but not like this. Playing Kingdom Come is like you are playing an NPC is a real RPG somewhere else. You will never be great, you will never be a good fighter, and you will never get to do what you really want to do in the game. If that's your real choice for REALISM in a game then maybe this game is for you.

Kingdom Come is a mess of bugs, and there’s the constant feeling that independent developer Warhorse is biting off more than it can chew. But there’s a charm to its scrappiness, and it does enough interesting stuff that I’m willing to tolerate the creaky framework struggling to prop everything up. It’s one of the most satisfying, rewarding role-playing experiences I’ve enjoyed on PC for a while, but the inconsistent performance and the game’s tendency to completely break does test my patience from time to time.

The combat system is amazing and, even if it will take you some hours to handle a sword correctly, all the time will spent will be worth it.
