The concept of Lawn Mowing Simulator (LMS) is pretty straightforward. The biggest issue with LMS is how long it takes to accumulate capital, in order to expand your business, upgrade your mowers, and eventually tackle larger and higher paying levels. Most jobs will pay out $400-$500 on average, with the higher end mowers costing around $14,000 - $20,000. Fines are also very easy to accumulate when you bump into property, cut flowers, or leave grass trimmings lying around. Your mowers also need maintenance and fuel, and the costs add up quickly; your employees also need a salary. It just takes too long to generate decent capital, and the grind is real in this game. You will also find yourself repeating the same strategy for each "level", and the game incorporates a pre-level search / treasure hunt for items, which unfortunately becomes extremely repetitive very quickly, and down right annoying. Your only alternative to tackling larger plots of grass, is to take out loans, with criminally high interest rates (we are talking 40% here). The levels in the early stages also repeat quite a bit, making this more a game of grinding as opposed to offering much else. The novelty wears off VERY quickly, and is probably the biggest drawback. It's a great time waster, but the long term replay of this game just isn't evident.Each level has a "recommended deck size" for the type, power and size of mower you need to use, and recommended in terms of the size of the plot, and the height of the grass, as an example. The game warns you when your deck is too big, but no warning when your deck is too small. If you start a job with deck size that is too small, you will be grinding for a long time before you finish the level, as even the largest and most powerful mowers in the game struggle with thick grass. My frustration is that as a player you want to take on higher paying jobs, but early on you just won't have the capital available to buy the correct mower. So why even offer these jobs in the game? You will need to either cut half the grass, cut grass at a higher level and come back and re-cut, or as I discovered, drive very very slowly, which results in some "jobs" going well over the hour mark to complete.The game is also pedantic in the sense that you need to cut 99.9% of the grass on each level. You can spend a lot of time looking for tiny patches of grass hidden under shrubs or in previously cut areas, and this in itself becomes tedious level after level. You do have the option of a "pro-view" to see where the uncut grass is, highlighted to contrast against the other grass, but this ability disappears as soon as you press the corresponding button.Overall, the game does a good job of incorporating grass cutting mechanics, and the graphics are O.K. The game does struggle with draw distance in larger levels, however, which is evident by the non-existent grass in the distance.My verdict? Not worth the $19.99 that it's currently selling for. Rather download this with playstation plus deluxe as I did, or wait for this one to be on sale at a big discount. But at the end of the day, it is a game about mowing lawns; not exactly a cutting edge concept (pun totally intended).

Those are little nitpicks though, really. Lawn Mowing Simulator is a detailed replica of the real-life equivalent that lawncare aficionados will presumably get a kick out of, but like so many of these “job simulator” type games, there’s a much wider appeal than just that core audience. A good mow is something anyone can take pride in, and with its serene locations, attention to detail, and a meditative effect of cleanly cutting through swathes of long grass, Lawn Mower Simulator turns what can feel like a chore in real life into a wonderfully relaxing experience.

Lawn Mowing Simulator lands on PS5 in a good condition, though the lack of PS5-only features and a little bit of spit and polish wouldn’t have gone amiss. Thankfully, the zen wonderment of this game remains, and there’s really nothing else like it.

Start your mowers, start aggressively into the battle with the overgrown grass (but not too aggressively in order as not to damage the engine) and show the world that you have mastered another absurd game.

If you’re looking for a game that’s challenging yet relaxing, Lawn Mowing Simulator fits the bill. Starting up your own business, you need to choose your contracts carefully and mow lawns with care. And while it really does feel like work at times, there’s something seriously enjoyable about going back and forth in serene British parks and gardens, making them look prim and proper. Ultimately, Lawn Mowing Simulator is more addictive than it has any right to be.

Although Lawn Mowing Simulator might get a laugh or two in its concept alone, it’s a genuinely good simulation game that allows players to manage the landscaping business of their dreams. While it’s not as satisfying as PowerWash Simulator, it’s just as relaxing — if you enjoyed one, you’ll likely enjoy the other. If you want the satisfaction of a lawn well mowed but don’t actually want to get outside and mow a lawn (and that irony isn’t lost on you whatsoever), Lawn Mowing Simulator is begging you to take the wheel.

Lawn Mowing Simulator does what it says on the tin, and much like Euro Truck Simulator 2, it's more than just mowing lawns. You're building a business empire and mowing lawns across the land, something that's both surprisingly engaging, and very relaxing. There are a few issues, such as poor balancing leading to grind, but if you like those simulations that offer you just enough game and something to call your own, this is worth considering.

It’s a hard one to describe, but I fell in love with the relaxed feel of this game. Sure, the business side of the game wasn’t the deepest and really all you’re doing is going back and forth on a lawn mower, but I would be lying if I did have a good time with the game and to the point of writing this review, have put over 20 hours into it. If you’re looking for a chill game to throw some music or a podcast on and just ride, you really can’t beat this game. It’s not going to throw some hard curveball at you. Sometimes, that exactly what you need. You may find yourself like me and have a nice, relaxing time with it.

Not the game of the year, and technically uneven, you'll still come back to Lawn Mowing Simulator from time to time for some peaceful non-action, helped by its great accessibility.

For what it is, it’s an extremely well-done game. You won’t be bragging about your perfect mows to anyone but it’s not about the adrenaline rush, it’s about the learning experience you can bring to you in your own life’s decisions. You’ll know more about mowing and a little more about running your own small business. Well, at least I think it helps. I could be wrong, but it will look good on my resume!

A few niggles aside, Lawn Mowing Simulator is another game in the blossoming sim genre that takes workaday tasks and manages to create a zen, ASMR-esque experience that transcends boredom. This game certainly has a niche and won’t be for everyone but if might surprise you with how equally innocuous and engaging it is at the same time. Even for someone who hates mowing their lawn, I found this title to be enjoyable. If you’re looking for a new simulator in the same vein as Farming Simulator, House Flipper or Euro Truck, this certainly could be it.

While obviously a niche game Lawn Mowing Simulator does what it says it will do and does it well. If you have the slightest amount of curiosity about the game, I’d recommend it for sure.

In one sense, spending hours mowing virtual lawns in a game could be considered a ridiculous waste of time. But aside from being a satisfying management sim, the act of mowing lawns in Lawn Mowing Simulator can be surprisingly relaxing and maybe even a little inspiring. This isn’t a lawn mowing version of Formula One, where you play a plucky kid with a push mower dreaming of glory on a shiny, souped- up John Deere. But it’s also much more than a one-joke game. Lawn Mowing Simulation is a full-featured product with a very specific focus, and a pretty well-made one, at that.

Lawn Mowing Simulator does no more or less than its title. You will mow lawns on lawn mowers. Although there is a career mode, there’s little urging you to progress, making this a perfect mind-clearing title for those times when you just feel like cruising and bruising the buffalo.

Lawn Mowing Simulator is unique, simply because there are no other games of this kind that simulate the activity of the gardener.

Ultimately, I have mixed feelings about Lawn Mowing Simulator. On the one hand, the gameplay gets a bit monotonous after the first few levels, and building up your company requires quite a bit of grinding. But, it does exactly what you would expect in terms of offering a game about mowing people's gardens, maximising the laid-back vibes of cutting grass with a powerful machine.

Ultimately though, you probably already know whether you’ll like Lawn Mowing Simulator or not. It allows you to venture into some lovely environments and cut grass from the comfort of your armchair. If that sounds appealing to you then you’ll probably love it. It can be quite relaxing at times, and also rewarding when you devise an effective grass-cutting strategy. If you have a real life lawn though, you’ll probably feel like you should just go and cut that rather than spend time cutting virtual ones. My lawn isn’t big enough to be cut with a sit-on lawn mower, however, so that’s my excuse.

Lawn Mowing Simulator is a brilliantly presented and perfectly designed sim experience. The attention to detail in terms of the vehicles and the varied locations manage to fully complement a solid management experience as well. The problem is that much like most sims, cutting grass day in, day out fast becomes tiresome, especially when you’re always on edge, trying to keep on top of the micromanaging side of things.

A simulator that's actually good instead of a jank factory? Lawn Mowing Simulator will only appeal to a specific niche, but it's a fun, relaxing game that offers almost all of what it should.
