And at last and least a really bad soundtrack, I get that creators tried to pick music for everybody, but hockey is a quick game with lots of hits, so there should be pumped up music that makes your blood boil.Overall I think it is a must buy for all nhl fans and great sport game.

Ive tried simming seaso s and all it does is move ur ratings up but now your potential. So evan if your at 90 overall your potential is stil AHL low cringe. How can I become a starter ? I want to be able to boost my players overal by using my xp pionts but it doesnt allow you to. What can I buy w them in this mode?

It its absolutely ludacris.It seems to me that the great minds in EA have decided that players want two kind of ouctome from a match, either you will do whatever you please and win or the AI steps in against you and you will be utterly ass raped by its supremacy. Even T1000 would agree its **** unfair. If you win, you do not feel joy. You feel bored af. If you lose, and make no mistake, you WILL lose, you are left with a agonizing pain in you soul.The **** is really **** up when you play online. Sadly, EA sports follows the trend in modern online gaming where everyone must be pleased and offered a chance to be a champ (re-purchase in mind naturally).Once you get to a certain level, the game allows you to have only few fair match ups. Otherwise brace yourself to be annihilated even by players new to the game with absolutely ridiculous advantages provided by the AI. You might find yourself shooting over 50 shots with 1-2 goals and follow in disbelief as the roughed up opponent skates in and demolishes your lead with 3 shots from the blue line. Other options for AI generated losing streaks are that your team will suffer greatly from the fatique effect and you can just watch and wave as the opponent has turbo mode on with unlimited momentum. If you end up against the same opponent after a week, you might crush him/her 11-0 as you should. Again, the two options. No happy mediums here !All in all a good overall experience for hockey fans. Definitely not worth the money but hey, do we have a choice? RIP 2k.

NHL keeps doing the same thing every year and that is a good thing. They have a strong formula that works which they keep interesting by adding new game modes and perfecting the game even more.

Unfortunately, I feel I have been totally ripped off with NHL17. I have played EA's NHL for years now and while the new modes such as franchise are a nice addition this year, the gameplay and AI is by far the worst ever - and that makes the modes meaningless. I mainly play the online HUT mode (nearly 2000 online games last year alone) as it has always been my favorite. I upgraded my HUT players early this year but it seems to make no difference - and this is a HUGE problem when players work and spend money to upgrade and find out it was time / money wasted. Players with high ratings just aren't differentiated from players with lower ratings - doesn't matter if you are controlling the player or the AI is. One timers have basically been eliminated, passing is delayed and makes the game frustrating and most players score using soft moves and passes into the goal (that score way too often) rather than actually shooting. I'm hoping there are others that feel the same and are still playing NHL16 which was much better as far as the gameplay goes. Otherwise I'll be looking for a new game to satisfy my video game cravings. Oh, and next year I will wait a few weeks at least before even trying the game or wasting time / money on building what is supposed to be a good team.

It has been a fact for a couple of years now that EA Sports NHL series is in need of a big renovation. The graphics is starting to look dated, the physics isn't nearly as good as PES or FIFA and the AI is unbalanced – particularly the goalie part. NHL 17 is still a pretty decent game for the hockey fans, but it's hard to not feel a bit disappointed.

NHL 17 continues the trend EA has been building lately, and it’s another quality title in the franchise. The problem I have with it is, I don’t see the game as an every year investment, unless you're a true diehard hockey fan.

At its core, the game delivers. The gameplay — always the most important factor — is as good as it has ever been and the level of depth, customization and replayability makes this one a winner.

I love hockey, so I’ll play NHL 17 for most of this upcoming winter. But similar to my hometown Minnesota Wild, I have mixed feelings about the quality on display. EA Canada continues to make minor improvements across the board, yet the NHL series has yet to tap its true potential this generation. As any sports fan will tell you, there’s always next year.

While last year’s game was coming off its very disappointingly bare bones predecessor, NHL 17 already had a very solid foundation to build upon at the start and is one that will be enjoyed by most any fan of the sport.

NHL 17 is a game that overwhelms you with variety of play as well as feedback aimed at making you a better, happier player. Outside of a collection of new game modes including Draft Champions, Franchise Mode and the World Cup of Hockey, everything here is largely the same. The game still looks great. Still feels great. And most importantly, it still plays great. Little refinements throughout yield small but noticeable improvements on the experience.

NHL 17 isn’t leaps and bounds better than last year’s NHL 16, but it’s evident upon even a glance that EA Sports has been listening to its fan base. The end result of this leaves glimmers of unrealized potential, but the realization that this is the best installment that the series has seen thus far. It’s been a rough trek for gamers, but NHL is back and it’s better than ever.

There’s no doubt EA has taken pride in bringing a well-balanced hockey simulator that's simple in delivery but complex in execution and something everyone can enjoy.

Plain and simple, the game delivers. It’s not going to blow your mind in the way you think it should, but that’s exactly how EA Sports wants it. Like the forgotten rookie flying under the radar with an 80-point season, it’s impressive, but only if you know what you’re looking at.

When compared to NHL 15, NHL 17 is miles ahead; when compared to NHL 16, it's incrementally better. That's the EA Sports way. There are some new features and improvements, but nothing mind-blowingly innovative. That's perfectly fine. There's a good hockey game at the core, and a lot of options on the periphery. That's all we ever wanted.
