The shot system is broken, the animation is broken. The blatant Battlefield 4 promotion is unbelievably awful. I hope someone else can develop a good golf game for this generation because EA have completely lost the plot.

If you can be bothered to move the view 360 degrees to a darker area of the course you sometimes you can make it out.This makes the game unplayable in my opinion

Yet, the reason they are bad is not because of gameplay but because of features. So, gameplay being solid, I pick it up.Simply put, if you were a fan of Mario Golf for its precise 3-button gameplay and loved Tiger Woods games, this game is a great mix of the two.Yes, features are missing. But a solid gameplay experience is there, especially if you are a traditional fan of 3-click golf. And you can mix 3-click with "in air spin" if you want. Awesome!As far as golf gameplay goes, this is a great value if you can pick it up cheap.Again, if you loved the way Mario Golf played, this is a no brainer.

Online was super weird and glitchy. There was a neat "play at the same time as your opponent" feature, with what looked like some cool features like "see your opponent if he's not in your way" and "view the course if your opponent isn't done with the hold yet", however these features worked about 10% of the time, other times my opponent would be flickering in and out of existence, and the waiting camera angles are terrible, can't see anything. I would much rather have just watched my opponent's screen so I could tell what was happening at all, rather than watch some shrubbery also flicker in and out of existence from a mile away.TLDR: I think the game had/has potential if you're just looking for some arcade golf fun, but the whole feel of the game is somewhere between rushed and beta. Good ideas poorly done.

It should have been a cause for celebration that an EA Sports game review has forced us to abandon the well-worn ‘It’s like last year but slightly better!’ template, yet Rory McIlroy PGA Tour is like two years ago but significantly worse. Not nearly good enough, especially for a game whose slogan is ‘golf without limits’.

Don't let the fresh new franchise face and the Frostbite screens fool you. Rory McIlroy's has applied some serious back-spin to this once features-rich series. Budget buy this duff.

A good golf simulation, capable of entertaining both experts and newbies thanks to lots of control options and a scalable difficulty.

Whether you want to call it a shank, a duff, or a whiff, all that really matters is that Rory McIlroy PGA Tour is a poor effort from a series that was looking to make a splash in its generational debut.

Despite the welcoming gameplay and often outstanding graphical representation of the courses though, enthusiasts and series stalwarts may soon feel that while progress has been made in some areas, this may not be the experience they expected from the first PGA Tour of a new console generation.

I absolutely love this game, Its just what the next gen needs, a decent golf game. I am thoroughly enjoying it, Its fun on Multiplayer playing with your friends, There is also fun challenges to do. There has been some glitches i have come across, But hopefully they will get fixed.

You rarely, if ever, see them actually swing, and you do not see shot streaks for their balls. There is only a scorecard that shows your own score, none for your playing group. You might as well being playing alone. It's awful. EA forces online players to play career, as that is the only way to build up your character with Xp. You get no xp playing online or in tournaments. And, the career is terrible and boring. It's amazing and unbelievable how EA has ruined this game compared to TW'14.

By eliminating Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy PGA Tour does not have the same atmosphere as it did before. This makes the game seem incomplete.

I don't under stand all the complaining about the courses I have 13 courses. 11 that came with the game, 1 that was a pre-order perk (Scottsdale) and 1 fantasy course (Battlefield 4 Paracelsus Storm, which is amazing). As for the number of golfers, I don't know how many there are but it's obviously enough to keep me occupied because I haven't found the need to count them. This game ROCKS. Don't listen to the haters!!! I love this game and look forward to spending the better part of my free time playing it.

By and large, EA Tiburon have managed to release a golf experience that is a blast to play and features some brilliant looking courses. Granted, the limited PGA roster, only 13-courses out of the box, and some technical hiccups dampen the experience.

There are NO FEATURES. I will explain:1. Horrible character creator. It's absurdly simplistic and there is no way of making a character look like 2. you. It's a total insult to the last few PGA Tour games.2. Game modes: Stroke or Match (i miss skins play, it's my favorite mode. and best ball/scramble is the style you're most likely to play in real life tournies, if you are a golfer)3. Cannot remove the fan gallery. Would you like to have a quiet and friendly round of golf with a friend? Hoping to enjoy nature and relax on the golf course? DENIED- You are surrounded by hundreds and hundreds of cheap looking gallery fans, who will NOT react when hit with the ball. Even if you 9.5 degree drive the ball into their face. It will bounce off them and they will cheer.4. No EXP/Money for playing offline with friends. The only way to progress your character is through Single Player Pro play. It's become evident that EA does not want you to play this game in the same room with your friends. You are required to own your own xbox, xbox live subscription and internet. Are my friends and I the only people who still get together on the couch and play video games on the same TV?5. Sluggish menus. I shouldn't have to list the specs of the XBOX ONE, but they should be enough to handle MENU BROWSING. Not in this game though.6. The animations. It seems like the developers of this game have never actually watched golf. Hit a routine drive 300 yards on the fairway- nothing special: your golfer jumps and cheers like he just hit a hole-in-one. every time. Make a decent birdie- he's flipping out like he just won the Masters. Make a bad shot and he's practically freaking out and smashing his clubs. You would -never- see professional golfers, or even semi-professional, or even total amateur golfers acting like these characters do. Where is the class and quiet dignity of golfers? They will overact on EVERY-HIT. oh, and you cannot turn these animations off. They have even removed the "quick play" feature to auto-skip these ridiculous cutscenes.7. No replay feature. ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????I'd like to replay some of my previous shots without recording it to the dang xbox.In closing, EA has created a decent looking golf game, with average controls and physics. However it seems like they have never watched the PGA Tour, or played previous PGA Tour games. And they definitely did not have beta testers. This game is absolutely featureless. It's as bare-bones as a sports game has ever been. I don't even care about the lack of courses, the lack of golfers (no LPGA???), lack of former clubhouse and online features. Why is this game so dang simple when there are mobile golf games with more depth.Total disappointment.

The in-game experience is excellent, with beautiful scenery, accurate courses, and the true feel of a broadcast. The overall product is hurt, however, by a lack of courses, big name golfers, and stripped down modes. Gamers expect to be wowed after two years of development, not left with an empty feeling.

Rory McIlroy PGA Tour may not win any awards for visuals, but it’s a solid experience in the gameplay department with flexible controls, entertaining modes and enough depth to keep you going for awhile.

My very first golfing game was simply titled Golf, which was released in 1984 for the Nintendo Entertainment System.This game was built completely new from the ground up for the Xbox One and PS4 systems using the Frostbite Engine. This engine has been used in making games like Mass Effect and Battlefield, but it is the first time it has been used in making a sports title. You can really tell the difference the Frostbite Engine made in this me. If you do a side by side comparison with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14, which was released two years ago, the difference is night and day. Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR looks absolutely amazing. Little things you may have never noticed before in a golf game will now stand out and catch you eye like never before.Another great thing about EA Sports' decision to go with the Frostbite Engine is the fact that it loading times are now gone which means you now have more time to play than ever before. To me, that means a lot. As a Husband and a Father, I don't have the gaming hours I used to have when I was a single man. With no more loading times, I can now play more rounds of golf, which in my book, is always a good thing.Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR offers several different ways to play.Play Now: Play a round of Golf. Sadly, there are only eight real life courses to choose from. (Nine if you pre-order the game)I realize that EA had to start from the ground up with this game and that takes a lot of time but having only eight real world courses to choose from is very disappointing. On the bright side, since this game will not be a yearly release, EA Sports has gone on record as saying they will continue to support this title with content updates. EA has already announced that everyone will be receiving TPC Scottsdale for free on September 14.EA SPORTS Night Club Challenge: In this mode of play EA is trying to lure in the casual golf fan. The person who is not a diehard sim fanatic but likes to play just for fun. In here lies the problem, the Night Club Challenge is not fun at all. The challenges start off easy at first but get very frustratingly hard to the point of you wanting to throw your controller threw the TV screen. If there had been a way to skip around the extremely hard levels and move on to something else would be one thing but once you are stuck on a level, that's it, you are there until by miracle you move on or finally have had enough and quit. I understand the causal fans dollars are just as important as the diehard Golf fans, but I really don't see this Night Club Challenge reeling them in. EA would have been better suited to have made a good old fashioned putt-putt course for light heart fun of the Golf Course.Head2Head: This Mode lets you compete against fellow golfers online.Online Tournaments: This will allow you to complete in online tournaments with your friends, family, co-workers or random people online.Pro Career: This is where you can create your own golfer and build your career. You can choose to be male or female. On your create a golfer, you can choose everything from eye color, hairstyle body size, etc. For those of you wanting to add your own face to your created golfer, the Game Face option is not included in this game.Prologue: Play this Mode to basically learn how to play the game if you are a first time buyer or you just new a refresher course on how to play. You can learn how to aim and set up different shots. You can also learn about the three different swing mechanics which are; Arcade, Classic, Tour. You also now have the ability to create your own gameplay style to your liking.In closing, Rory McIlroy PGA Tour is a very fun game to play if you are into video game golfing. Gameplay has never been better. Presentation wise EA really out did themselves using the Frostbite Engine. Everything for the littlest detail really stands out on the golf course. With the addition Frank Nobilo and Rich Lerner of The Golf Channel, it gives the game a more authentic appeal. Sadly though, with only eight real life course and only twelve licensed PGA Golfers, I can only give this game a seven. Hopefully, EA Sports will come through on their word to continue to support this title post release with the addition of new content.

I came away feeling like it was a launch title. It’s missing the robust features and course set that video game golf enthusiasts have come to know. It has a lot of the mechanics down well enough but the game doesn’t have enough content to warrant the price tag.

No longer a Tiger Woods game in name, but you do wish they had retained more of the older ideas. But while there's not much content here, it still plays a superb game of golf.
