They did make some nice quality of life changes that help like how animals and crops are handled. But this just isn't enough because games like this have really changed and progressed when it comes to game play. For example, going through year 1 winter is such a chore because there isn't much to do. You can go to the mines but even then you run out of stamina very fast and it is pretty boring compared to Stardew Valley's mines.Also they took out the rival marriage because everyone in the game is now bi. Yes, that's right. They put in same-sex marriage to pander to the woke Western audience. This wasn't in the original, and to be honest the rivals made going for the girl you wanted to marry interesting. Even if you weren't going for a certain character it added some personality to the characters form a relationship. I remember really liking the male characters Gray, Cliff and Kai. But now they changed their personalities and they're a lot more wimpy and not as masculine as before. And that's the problem with this game. They changed characters and dialogue so it's more safe.The graphics look like they're a Chinese mobile game and I'm not a fan of the style. I can't really put my finger on it, but the charm of the original just isn't here in Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town.

I scored it 9/10 because there are similarities to the original one and the only noticeable changes would be new mechanics and graphics.

Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town is a very cosy farm builder that has a lot to offer. There's very little pressure to do everything but the farming has a compelling loop to it that kept me engaged. The calendar year can drag at times but there's always one more task you can engage with. It's satisfying to see the money come in and your farm grow, although sometimes you have to make your own long and short-term objectives.

Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town is adorably cute just like the original game, but it does feel a bit dated at times, even from simple things like switching tools that require a bunch of D-Pad presses. Even though many mechanics have been updated and modernized, it’s still quite a time commitment to get your farm back to its former glory. While the $49.99 CAD asking price seems a little steep, I’ve had hours pass by simply because I wanted to work on my farm ‘one more day’ before calling it for the night, constantly being distracted by one task or another.

It's a fairly faithful adaptation and they added a decent amount of new that is certainly a step up from those games. If you haven't however, you're better off playing Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town. Really wish they would have done a bit more bringing it up to speed with current games, and also a bit disappointed that there's not a way to switch between the original art like there is in so many other remakes now days. That being said I am a huge fan of the original and am enjoying replaying through it for the 100th time (that might not be an exaggeration). Biggest gripe is that they didn't include the DLC from the switch game despite the fact that they put the new price tag on it again.

You start out as usual with a small section of the farm and it grows more and more addictive from there. New areas are unlocked after amassing the required funs and materials. There's so much variety, you won't get bored. You can pretty much develop the farm exactly how you want it. There's fencing, paths, decorations etc.If i had to complain about something, I'd say there are some framerate and loading time issues. However these will be patched soon, or so I hear.I love this game!

After playing games like Stardew Valley and the huge improvements made in terms of gameplay, writing, and scope I cannot fully enjoy a game like this anymore. I was honestly bored pretty quickly already at the end of the first season.The map is very small (which was understandable 17 years ago on a gameboy..) but it's the same case here. There really isn't much to do, you do your crops, animals, then some fishing (which has zero interaction), or mining. Mining is just terribly dated, after just 2-3 floors I am loathing the gameplay because all you is digging up ground until you find a ladder and there is nothing in the mines, no sense of discovery. No mystery, no enemies, nothing.The graphics are OK at first but honestly lack character, everything looks generic like lastgen and I honestly prefer the design of the original. The sound design is pretty dull, and the writing barebones to say the least. Festivals are always welcome from the monotone loop however atleast during the first year I found you aren't really able to properly participate due to certain criteria which is a shame.Overall I think Marvelous missed a great opportunity by expanding on the original and implementing more content or features, there are very minor quality of life improvements over the original but over all the experience, especially after playing stadew valley, falls rather flat.Another thing to address is the pricepoint which for me was 50€ / $58 USD which is roughly 3.6 stardew valleys. As a gigantic fan of the genre I give this a 6/10, it's fine but not great.

I feel like the gameplay loop is addictive and satisfying. I love some of the quality of life improvements (1 pack of seeds plants 9 spots in the field, the tool swapping is easy, etc.) For the most part, I enjoy the meat of this game, but I cannot give it a 10/10 because of some important gripes.The graphics are perfectly acceptable -- I even find them cute -- but the animations do feel a bit stiff and lifeless. The music, when present, is fun but I often find that there is no background music. The sound effects are dated; I really dislike how the footsteps sound. The villager dialogue is a bit lacking as well.Overall, I am glad I bought this game, and I know I will put in a ton of hours. I just wish they would have taken the time to get some of the finer details better.

Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town is such a calming experience from it’s very sweet and earthy tunes to its simple routine. While credits can be rolled in about twenty hours, this a game that is meant to be played well beyond the player’s first year. There are lots of friendships to make, storylines to unfold, and gossip to be found. While I wish the presentation had been stronger, I won’t deny the fun I had courting my librarian love while also enjoying the fruits of my virtual labour. Friends of Mineral Town is an engaging game for those of us who love and need a sense of repetition in these times of uncertainty.
