The story in this game was fairly bland and son were the characters. I don’t think it’s a bad game, but it should’ve been way better than it is. It’s okay to play once but you’re gonna forget about it not long after playing it.

They played with the idea of seeing the ship and ghosts form different time periods, and I would’ve loved to see them play with this more..Overall though, Im happy with what Supermassive Games seems to be doing with this series, it’s a fresh take on the horror genre, no more finding missing doorknobs and valves for 10 hours, just a to the point story of try to keep everyone alive..AI give The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medana 7/10

Visually a great "slasher" horror with an incredibly branched story. Shame it has cheap jumpscares, short play time and stiff controls with frequent QTE moments. If you use horrors to relax, this game is for you.

Personally, I’m genuinely excited for future Dark Pictures instalments. And I’m still playing Man of Medan, figuring out its hidden traps and machinations, despite my frustrations with it.

When I read all the bad critic and user scores, I was pretty bummed out and set my expectations super low. To my surprise, I actually really enjoyed the game! More than Until Dawn actually. For me shorter length does not automatically mean worse quality. I felt the length was fine. I really enjoyed the setting, atmosphere, theme, characters, and character banter. I like how they kept the overall structure of Until Dawn the same, but didn't just strictly stay to the formula, and added some new features like online co op play which to my surprise, majorly elevates the experience. It's a blast to play with a friend and I hope this new interactive movie/game concept catches on because the online co op choose your own adventure gameplay is a breath of fresh air in the gaming industry and has so much potential. I would love to play other genres of games like this besides horror. The production values are top notch and the graphics/atmosphere look even better than Until Dawn. It really felt like I was watching/playing a cinematic horror movie. The ship was really creepy and the jump scares were really good and startled me several times. I also love the fact that the game was made to be replayed several times to see potentially new outcomes, etc. It seems the game is best played with different online partners/friends to see how their choices affect the plot. In conclusion, I'm really impressed that Supermassive Games retained a strong identity of their Until Dawn hit game but also added a good amount of freshness to the gameplay, so it doesn't just feel like the same old thing. Highly recommend to horror fans and Until Dawn fans! It seems most of the negative reviews come as a result of people not understanding how the developers intended people to play the game which is to play online with a friend and to play through multiple times to get the full experience!!!

Man of Medan is quickly overtaken by a very average writing quality and an abominable technical level synonymous with jerks and other constant freezes.

Sadly, you can’t help but compare it to Until Dawn which quite frankly did everything better. Man of Medan is over far too quickly and doesn’t have the same impact of Supermassive’s previous entry. It is, however, a short but sweet enjoyable romp which is way better when played with friends.

Failing to deliver as an effective horror story, Man of Medan is interminably slow to get started, and when it does, the narrative and performances prove more laughable than scary. The best kind of horror is the stuff that really gets under your skin, but sadly, this barely even pricks it. A soggy first chapter in The Dark Pictures Anthology, Man of Medan is best left on the seabed to rust.

Supermassive Game's high concept - an anthology of horror stories - is off to a great start with Man of Medan. We don't get nearly enough horror that aims to be thoughtful like this. The challenge will be to make sure that each game in the series is different enough to reflect a different approach to horror, but things are off to a good start.

At its best, Man of Medan is every bit as gripping, beautiful, and giddily silly as Until Dawn, but technical issues, a rushed story, and a confusing approach to player choice betray the limited resources the game’s creators had to work with. Man of Medan is currently the best option for those desperate for more Until Dawn, but I'm hoping Supermassive Games can scare up something a little more substantial for future The Dark Pictures titles.

Supermassive Games delivers a compelling and intriguing horror-thriller adventure, with a great atmosphere and plenty of story branches based on player choices. We would have loved more tools to enable branches exploration, like a choices map or the ability to skip already seen cut-scenes, but it's definitely a great start for this new anthology games series.

Supermassive’s back in full swing. In spite of a predictable plot and setting, I eventually grew somewhat tired of, I loved every aspect of Man of Medan. It’s a killer debut to a series I’m now eagerly anticipating. It has the spooks, fun cast, and unforgiving consequences I grew to love in Until Dawn. Horror fans rejoice, as Man of Medan’s a phenomenal introduction to a promising new interactive anthology series.
