I haven´t played the original from 2013, but I´m glad that I gave The Raven Remastered a try. As an oldschool crime story enthusiast, from Agatha Christie to Arthur Conan Doyle, I was surprised about how dense the atmosphere of this point and click adventure can be! It mixes favourite moments of classic Poirot stories with an Moriatyesque villain, but always stays unique. Only the graphics and at some times clunky controls aren´t convincing at all. But if you want to experience a great crime story, check The Raven out. And definitely check out Book Of Unwritten Tales from the great King Art studios.

Looking at the other scores this must be down to personal taste, but as a fan of the point and click genre I thoroughly enjoyed it. Like much else in The Raven Remastered, the music is serviceable but feels like a missed opportunity to leave a stronger impression. That's probably a good way to sum up The Raven Remastered: serviceable but underwhelming. The title shows plenty of promise with its characters and story, but the sluggish gameplay, questionable acting, and mediocre audiovisual presentation drag it down. Mystery fans and avid Christie book readers will find something to like with The Raven's narrative, but the rougher edges make it a tough experience to recommend to all but the most dedicated and patient of players.

Look at some YouTube gameplay before you buy - people jumping in expecting something different (or not knowing what you are buying at all - see the TatsMcGee review) will be disappointed.

The Raven Remastered brings back the point and click adventure genre that has been immensely popular in generations past and it does a very good job at that in this edition for the Nintendo Switch. It may not completely reinvent point and click adventures but it makes a good attempt at fixing some of its frustrating aspects and its original, entertaining and involving plot makes a big case for anyone who appreciates the genre to get their hands on this.

The Raven Remastered is a classic whodunit story, with a genuinely intriguing plot and some great voice acting, particularly from the lovable lead Zellner .The load times may be intrusive at times, and I don’t really know what’s remastered about it (Other than some lighting effects maybe?), but its accessible gameplay make it one to recommend to any friend or family member that may be into their crime fiction.

The story of the game is a bit simple and it is supported thanks to some great characters with good charisma and dubbing. Maybe they have not invented the meta-game, but the intention of KING Art is extraordinary.

I’m betting The Raven flew under a lot of people’s radars, even adventure game fans, so yeah, I’d recommend checking it out if you get a chance. It’s maybe eight-hours long total, but it twists complicates its narrative, and gives a greater depth than expected in a lot of ways. It’s just a good crime story with competent gameplay and a great narrative – and you’re bound to get some joy out of it.

A story that keeps you on the edge of your seat is hugely important to point and click adventures such as The Raven Remastered. And thanks to its clever writing and mostly believable voice acting, it manages to accomplish that. It’s not quite up there with the likes of the original Broken Sword, but it deserves to be remembered as a cult classic. Control issues aside, The Raven Remastered is one of the best point and click style adventures available right now, and its presence on Switch is very much welcome.

They’re boring. I like Telltale Games because the story structure flows well and moves along. This walk around, solve some “puzzles” and the way you collect evidence feels contrived.I didn’t get too far into the game, maybe eventually it gets interesting but for me after an hour. I had enough. No mas.

It’s a poor remaster, but what the game did right five years age (the story, the music, sensible puzzles) it still does right today.

The Raven Remastered still has a great story, great characters and a great soundtrack. Despite the remastering, the game still feels old.

If you fancy a good mystery, maybe The Raven Remastered is the right game for you. But if it’s a saucy story you’re looking for, look elsewhere. Although it sounds like a pretty tasty tale to dig into, The Raven Remastered will leave you with more questions than answers.

The Raven is back, but their legacy neither enhances or tarnishes this return. Maybe check it out in the sale if you enjoy a good Poirot-esque story.

In the end, if you're looking for a mystery to get lost in (and like the old-school point-and-click adventure game genre), The Raven Remastered should rightly be on your radar. Despite the rather lazy ending, the journey there is still rather enjoyable and Constable Zellner is one protagonist I won't be forgetting any time soon.

The Raven Remastered isn’t a bad game. Besides its sub-par control mechanics and linear feel, the game actually has a compelling story with interesting characters. It’s no Sherlock Holmes, but it does have its good points and may well appeal to fans of such games as Black Mirror.

An interesting and engaging game, The Raven has the same strengths and weaknesses today as it had them in its original release back in 2013. It is a bit frustrating to see how “basic” this “remaster” is, since many of the original bugs, glitches and sloppy animation remain as before, but for gamers that have not seen this 1960s detective adventure, it is certainly a nice addition to their gaming library.

Though technically flawed, The Raven Remastered is a leisurely and charming point and click adventure that fans of the genre will enjoy.

STAY AWAY.

As you can imagine I was pretty pleased to learn that it was making its way to Xbox One in the form of a remaster, and thankfully I’m glad I tried it out this time because it’s a very good point-and-click adventure. Without a doubt the best thing about this game is its story and to say it had me hooked throughout would be a massive understatement. Each chapter has had a lot of thought and effort put into it and the writing shines through at all times, which of course makes the character’s stand out quite considerably. Each character in the game is interesting and they each have their own little quirks which ultimately makes you become even more attached to the story. In terms of gameplay The Raven Remastered doesn’t have a great deal to sink your teeth into, but the gameplay that is present is thankfully decent enough. Some of the puzzles in the game have been done really well but I must admit that some of the puzzles also didn’t fit in with what was going on storywise which did hurt the immersion levels a little bit at times. I will say though that every puzzle I completed felt very rewarding because some can go on for quite a while and they do require a little thought every now and then. In terms of content the game has a generous amount for you to be getting on with and I very rarely got bored thanks to the fantastic story. I did however have a few frustrating moments and that was mainly down to the awkward movement of the characters and the controls that went with it, but thankfully this was only a small problem and I was able to look past it quite quickly. The presentation side of the game had a couple of technichal issues but it still didn’t stop me from enjoying what was on offer here. Visually the game looks pretty good most of the time and when you combine that with the excellent sound design and voice acting it does more than enough to satisfy you. At the end of the day if like me you never played the original of this game then I thoroughly recommend you try out The Raven Remastered. It’s one of the most enjoyable point-and-click adventures I’ve played and it will have you hooked by its fantastic story from start to finish. I love when games surprise me and without a doubt The Raven Remastered did surprise me and in the end it gets a big thumbs up from me.

5 years later, KING Art's game still proves to be a brilliant adventure game, compelling, full of plot twists and with a great soundtrack. If you like adventure games and detective stories, this is a must buy.

The Raven returns as a renewed game, approaching an interesting point’n click adventure. But it’s too linear, undemanding and can get boring. Technically improved, but only in textures and illumination engine, tells the same story, what doesn’t seems enough to launch the game again.

It may not have truly next-gen visuals and the movement of constable Zellner may be a little clunky, but its captivating story, entertaining characters and rewarding point and click gameplay more than compensate for any shortcomings.

The riveting plot of The Raven will keep you hooked right to the very end if you can look past the strange character models and don't mind spending more time reading and listening than actually playing.
