Let's see them try to break a breakable door with an axe just to stay puzzled why it won't break. The game itself doesn't even understand what it expects the players to do... Definitely should be unpublished for the sake of everything good in gaming...

The story's a typical zombie story, but with a satisfying end. Gameplay is unqiue and the little exploration there was is worth it imo. Every section feels different and unqiue. Now here comes the bad part.. the big one is that you are fighting the controls the majority of the game, it feels floaty like others have said, stiff and feels like there is a delay. I found myself jumping straigtht up when prompted for a wall jump, running straight off ledges after pressing jump, etc. The game also does a horrible job giving you hints about what to do, you literally have to squint to realize "oh i have to crouch to get pass" or oh that shadowy thing is actually climeable.."i thought it was a background art". You combine that and weird controls with trial and error game design, it gets very frustrating. This game is not hard, i don't think it even qualifies as a puzzle game (it was grouped in that category).. it just has some bs game level design, trial and error gameplay, and bad controls. If they even skimped on half of the bs i stated, this game could've very well been a 10 for me, especially for a small game, but atlas it was just a frustratingly good game for me.

Groups of them are to be avoided due to a lack of ammunition, a stamina bar that drains when you use melee attacks and leaves you vulnerable when it empties, as well as a very real sense of mortality. The game gives you the tools to outsmart and outrun them. Combat is minimal as a result, leaving the game open to provide some solid platforming challenges.With a silhouetted visual style akin to that of Playdead's Limbo and comic style cutscenes, Deadlight is dripping with style. The tale it tells and the world developer Tequila Works has built is filled with dread. The game has the kind of bleakness The Walking Dead TV show has been struggling to attain for years now. Collectibles scattered throughout the game, on top of being well-hidden at times, flesh out the experience with dark side stories to go along with that of the main narrative. A shame there's so much overacting and outright bad voice work though.There is a little bit of extra content in this director's cut. Such as the new survival mode. Something I find to be a very questionable new addition. It feels out of place for a game largely about not fighting the undead to have such a combat-centric mode. It's not much fun because of that. Those looking for an extra challenge can play through the Nightmare version of the campaign upon completing it the first time, which tasks you with playing through the game where the only checkpoints only occurring between chapters. While you're gifted with an alternative ending upon finishing it, the control issues like the unreliable wall-jump and occasional unresponsiveness make it much less appealing to do when you can just check out a YouTube video instead. Then there are the multitude of technical issues that can screw you out of progress. I don't know why this rerelease didn't get more bug testing.Overall, Deadlight is a worthy prospect for the zombie fanatic. It's got a decent little post-apocalyptic story to tell and the visual aesthetics make exploring it's rundown locations a blast. I was put-off by the glitches and control flaws, but in the end I was kept engaged by it's solid platforming. There are some really fun moments to be found. While there isn't enough new content to make it worth revisiting for those who already experienced it on last gen consoles, this director's cut is now the definitive way to go for new players.

But the thing is, during the whole time i was always thinking about the things it could do better or what it could add to make it a more interesting and more challenging experience. Why not add small rpg elements like the possibility to enter a safe zone once in a while (like the towns in faxanadu on the nes) and talk to people, upgrade or buy weapons or something like that. It could have given the game more character and charm.But this game is not only extremely short, it wasn't challenging at all. It's all about running, jumping at the right moment and pressing the X button to enter some doors. That's it. The puzzles are not even worth mentioning, they are so easy it's almost an insult to us players.This game is neither demanding nor really interesting. It misses so much. And no, i don't want to replay it again on nightmare mode, it doesn't give me anything.The best parts of the game are the atmospheric and vivid backgrounds and the sound design. That and the fact that this game was very cheap and only made by a very small indie studio saves it from a negative score. But i really can't go higher than 5.

Deadlight in sí has a good plot, which is dwarfed by way of its gameplay, nothing against platform games (I love the genre) but for a game that tries to show its history, with a lethal dose of survival horror, the displayed style does not benefit anything, but it's still an interesting game to play with a promising plot.

Yet another proof that some games should just be left alone, because they don’t necessarily have much to offer a couple of years later.

Deadlight is, for the most part, a well-paced game that doesn’t linger very long in any one area or on one activity. It is also a rather short game, clocking in at about five hours, which is rather underwhelming for its price.

Rehashed version of the Deadlight doesn´t have anything to offer to the original game players. It doesn´t bring anything refreshing – so the game still suffers from poor controls and short playing time. But newcomers could be attracted by fast-paced, atmospheric and visually beautiful arcade game.

Deadlight: Director's Cut fails to add enough replay reasons for people who already finished it in the past. But if you never played it, it still keeps its original values offering a compelling horror experience.

Sure, there might be a few dodgy voices and some overacting, but it's a zombie apocalypse and we're allowed some of that - see Resident Evil for example. They couldn't just rest on their laurels when they delivered Deadlight to some fairly OK reviews, nope, they've been turning their hand to improving the game's longevity, challenge, and adding new content. With the help of Deep Silver, and Abstraction Games, Tequila Works have managed to breathe new life into the game.It's the perfect time to grab it if you've not played the original, there's some new content, and whilst it's not as great as it could be in terms of the remaster - it's probably worth a punt if you're a fan of the genre, and you're looking for a quick foray into something a little different than the run of the mill Zombie Crafting Death Simulator.

If you’re a die-hard fan of Deadlight, then you probably don’t even need to read a review to know whether or not to buy it, you’ll just do it anyway. For everyone else, this is an average game that has been surpassed in the years since it came out. There are far better 2D platformers available. You can give this one a miss.

I've learned to appreciate shorter games, packed creativity and emotions. Games that gives me an intense experience during my playthrough. Deadlight: Director's Cut is one of those games.

Deadlight still is a good game, with a very strong, full of personality artistic style, but this Director's Cut doesn't really add anything relevant for old or new players.

In the end, if you’ve got the patience to deal with Deadlight: Director’s Cut’s problems you’ll find a decent game, but you should certainly exercise caution before jumping in.

Tequila Work's Deadlight returns with a new survival mode and the same excellent artwork in 1080p, but the physical issues of the original game haven't been solved.

Deadlight looks better than ever and is a great game, but this remastered version does not have much in terms of new content, so it is only recommended for people who have not played the original.

If you missed out on Deadlight when it was originally released and are into action platformers, I do recommend checking it out. Just be prepared for the frustration to ramp up as the game goes on.

It’s a shame that Tequila Works didn’t take the time to improve upon the audio delivery or tweak the slightly floaty controls, but with a solid story, a consistently spellbinding art style and mostly impressive level design, Deadlight: Director’s Cut, while largely unchanged, remains as enjoyable today as it did back in 2012.

While some of the big criticisms that people had with the original version of the game still stand, Deadlight: Director's Cut still feels like a fresh take on the zombie genre 4 years later. It probably isn't worth a return trip if you've already played the original game, but if this is your first time checking out the Deadlight world then this version is definitely the one to get.
