Underpowered weapons, few bullets and tons of robots to kill you over and over… Better play Horizon Zero Dawn instead.

The developers have worked very hard on releasing many fixes and gameplay updates in their monthly updates and are also very active and communicative with their community. There is still much room for improvement and additions but it is still a great game and I would recommend it.

In fact, i'd say BOTW is more empty than this. It's overall a great game, that's best played with friends, but it's still fine single player (which is what i'm playing).

There is a vast and beautiful open world to explore with a great deal of variation in the landscape. I get the the impression the Swedish military were lavishly funded during the cold war, because the bunkers are on an absolutely vast scale. Between skirmishes this is a relaxing game to play and feels like a holiday simulator. You can travel either on foot or by bicycle and admire the scenery. The destruction mechanics of the robots feels very satisfying and their is plenty of variation in the weaponry. Thinking about your strategy to kill the enemy is well rewarded. The only thing that is lacking is human NPC's for solo players. Even a canine companion would be great. It feels like they spent all their budget on the world. But sill I like the lonely and eerie atmosphere and ambient music. This game grows on you the more you play.

There is no hand holding, it's up to you to figure out the story and tactics for defeating machines. Gunplay and stealth mechanics are similar to the Far Cry series, but with ammo scarcity and cache looting reminiscent of a survival game. Graphics are great, with a day/night cycle and weather effects. There are bicycles, but no other operable vehicles, and honestly you're better off on foot.I've encountered some bugs like constantly respawning enemies and occasionally getting stuck in the map geometry, but I haven't had to close or restart the game since I started it up the first time.I would recommend this game to players looking for a singleplayer challenge. I've yet to try multiplayer and likely never will.

On sait que les kévins aiment s'agréger en grappes communautaires et les grappes en troupeaux coopératifs pour tirer sur des trucs et se réanimer les uns les autres, même si c'est à chier par terre.Cela dit, on peut jouer à ce machin aussi en solo mais de toute manière, on a ici que l'ébauche d'un jeu, bricolé à l'arrache. Le monde ouvert est moche, terne et vide... et techniquement à la masse. Pourtant ça chausse du 47 Go ce truc ! dont 15 Go se sont rajoutés en "patch", c'est-à-dire les DLC qu'on vous met dans le disque dur même si vous les avez pas achetés.La jouabilité n'est pas terminée et le jeu ne sauvegarde que tous les 36 du mois. La furtivité n'est qu'une arrière-pensée et la répétitivité devient vite pénible à flinguer des robots, **** moyens ou gros. Three hours in, and Generation Zero is running on fumes. It will take you 30 hours to get to the end of this story, but what's the point? This game is just as dead as everyone in the alt-dimensional Sweden.

Generation Zero was designed with co-op in mind, but it lacks basic quality of life features, like dedicated servers, ignore list for matchmaking and even something as vital as integrated voice chat.

Coming from seasoned developers who’ve turned out great games like Just Cause and Mad Max, the quality of this brand-new IP is incredibly disappointing. I hope that it continues to be patched and improved, because the current state of affairs can’t possibly showcase the vision Avalanche must have originally intended.

If you’re the sort of person who enjoys aimless wandering but doesn’t like the idea of getting up off the couch and actually doing it, then you might be in luck here. Otherwise, don’t bother, because it’s absolutely not worth it.

The new patch seems to have fixed some minor gripes like machines glitching through walls. Overall, this is an exploration game with some crafting and combat. So, if you like that, you will like Generation Zero. If you are expecting more shooter like combat, you probably won't like it. It should also be noted that the game starts somewhat slow. You need to play it for a while to get to the better stuff. Lots of reviews posted here, seem to be from people who were expecting a shooter game with some crafting. That's certainly not what Generation Zero is. Anyhow, the game is enjoyable for me even though it could have been implemented better. However, it has been sold as a budget title and so I didn't expect a premium game. In some areas it is also apparent that the developers had more great ideas, but probably no budget to implement them. As such, an opportunity has been missed to make this into a great game.My recommendation: If you like exploring, you should get it. If you aren't sure, what until it is on sale.

At the end of the day, I will gladly call ‘Generation Zero’ a good game. It brings new elements and ideas together in a unique setting that hasn’t been seen before. However, the game’s point of difference is also its biggest downfall due to a lack of consistency across all elements of gameplay. Even though Avalanche Studios are constantly working on improving and updating the game, I wouldn’t call it a finished title just yet. Truthfully, I don’t feel that this game is overly suited for the Xbox and would be more enjoyable with a team of 4 people playing on PC. With time, ‘Generation Zero’ could become something incredible, but not just yet.

The nostalgia is strong in Generation Zero, both in and outside, and Avalanche Studios has more or less successfully bet on it. It worked for me even though I know it won’t necessarily work for everyone. Still, if you’re looking for something that does considerably less than most of those shiny games out there but at the same time has more integrity while doing so, Generation Zero might just be up your alley, although it’s a true niche title if there ever was one. To sum the game up, it’s like an 80’s Volvo; boxy but good.

Generation Zero could probably be best described as an unpolished gem. If a second part is going to be made (and I sincerely hope that’s happening), I’m sure that it’s going to be much better and better focused. Until then, if you're playing Generation Zero in a single player or with other people, you’re in for a treat. You’re going to experience something unique, and that in itself is valuable.

I find Generation Zero to have an interesting, stealthy core that sadly is undermined by a somewhat empty world. The technical issues might lead some to hold off and I do hope Avalanche keep supporting this blueprint. There is an appeal to this that does want me to return, providing something more is on the horizon.

If Avalanche can improve the inventory system, fix quest tracking, and get it so the enemies can't cheat through walls and other physical spaces, they'll have repaired most of what ails these dysfunctional machines. Generation Zero isn't the game I wanted it to be today, but in a world where games are alive and changing all the time, I'm hoping the singularity is still near.

While the apocalypse is traditionally painted in varying shades of drab brown and grey, here it's brought to life in lovely bucolic greens and yellows. This pastoral loveliness doesn't disguise the fact that Generation Zero is unremittingly, cripplingly dull, providing protracted periods of walking vast distances with all-too short bouts of gunplay. How the developer behind Just Cause managed to create this vacuous, pointless game is beyond me.

Generation Zero is an amalgamation of ideas, some of them pretty decent, but none executed with any great level of confidence. Despite the surprisingly strong atmosphere, gameplay annoyances and serious technical issues prevent it from having a chance to survive.

Generation Zero sports many of the components that you would expect to see in an open world shooter with online play. Whilst entertaining in short doses, and fairly interesting when it wants to be, the whole ordeal has a tendency of being massively undermined by its poor design choices and its several technical issues. Indeed, it’s a serviceable loot shooter at its core, but the developer really should have held the game to a much higher standard.

Generation Zero offers a vast world to explore but requires you to do it in company for a full experience. Guerilla tactics against robots in a retro-futuristic and scattered environment where the solo player will suffer a severe penalty due to its difficulty. An interesting proposal that we hope will evolve with more and better content.

The first light post has a disastrous issue with how it lights up. Visually it has eyeball killing motion blur you can't turn off. The graphics in this game are not nostalgic, they are unforgivably dated. Some of the graphics are just not finished, fences in mid air with no fence posts... etc. My guess this game was developed years ago (to compete with State Of Decay 1), cancelled, but then fast tracked and launched into a quiet window after Anthem and Fallout 76 performed badly, and ANY game would compete.The fast tracking means not creating more environmental art, just copy + pasting what already existed well beyond what is acceptible. Anyone saying Crackdown 3 has 360 graphics, you have a genuine "360 graphics" right here.Was this game developed for PSVR, sure looks like it? With its 4 player co-op, it would go from being very average to quite well recieved on VR.So, despite this... it's fun. It's scary that this is better than Fallout 76. And priced better, but wait until it's on Gamepass.Soundtrack is good too. To mitigate the motion blur I found a field of view set to 60 is better.Day night and weather effects are good.

The basic approach of Generation Zero is quite appealing, unfortunately the execution lacks finesse. The world is too big, too generic, too lifeless. The story and missions feel trivial and the numerous bugs and glitches ruin the last bit of fun.
