Got this on the epic games store. And although it has the occasional bug it is still a fantastic experience for ghostbusters fans in particular.

It’s the perfect fan service additionto the Ghostbusters canon, andregardless of the all-female reboot orupcoming Ghostbusters 2020, this stillstands up as that ‘third film’. The factthat it’s also a very good game franklymakes our toaster dance.

Just like back then, I see the flaws in Ghostbusters: The Video Game, but as a fan of the two cult movies, I don't care about them at all. Yes, there are many far better third person shooters, but in what other game can I use a positron collider to stop ghosts from spraying slime all over people? The shooter gameplay is fun, despite the partly inaccurate controls, and feels exactly the way you want it to feel. Moreover, the game is teeming with allusions and quotes, which put a blissful grin on the faces of the fans of the movies. But the dry humour is also perfectly fits in other respects - no matter if Ray is just obsessed again or Egon philosophises about one of his strange hobbies. In addition, there is a great atmosphere, varied enemy design and of course some iconic locations from the movies. Of course my fan heart beats faster. So I'm all the happier that everything works technically flawlessly in handheld mode and that I can now catch a few ghosts on the go.

For a budget priced remaster, it’s still a fun time, especially if you’re a fan of the Ghostbusters. The talent behind the game and story is decent enough even if the jokes aren’t as good as the original film. The gameplay loop can feel outdated, and the missing co-op mode stings, but the promise of it coming for free is still there. I still enjoyed my time with the game and people who have never experienced it, or haven’t seen it in a long time, will still find some enjoyment out of it, and you’re not breaking the bank while you do pick it up.

Terminal Velocity and co have preserved the unique mechanics of spectre combat and improved the in-game visuals to a suitable degree. However, the same can not be said for cutscenes, certain audio moments and the incredibly dated tropes. If you accept that this is a decade old title and fancy some time with Peter, Ray, Egon and Winston then there is still a lovable and endearing game to find underneath it all. Bustin’ still feels good, but your mileage will vary.

While the multiplayer mode is still AWOL, Saber Interactive promises we’ll see that pop out of a ghost trap in the near future. Thankfully, the series has since been revived with new and upcoming films, but it’s a shame that Ghostbusters: The Video game squanders a golden opportunity to become something truly special in this medium.

If you love Ghostbusters you will love this game to bits. Even if you have no idea what Ghostbusters is this is still a great game with a lot of fun to be had. In regards to how different the remaster is to the original. I played the original on the Xbox 360. That was 720p. I'm playing the remaster on the PS4 PRO and as far as i can tell it is 4K (Don't hold me to that though) but it does look much more crisp and clean compared to the original. It also runs much better, much smoother. I paid just £19.99 for a brand new physical copy of this and i'm really happy with my purchase. Hopefully we get a full on proper next gen sequel to this in the near future as this game proves that Ghostbusters games can be done right and be great fun and there is more than enough room for a good sequel. Intsead of pumping out rubbish versions like the quick cash grab 2016 versions. I also recommended watching the Ghostbusters film before playing this as the game visists and features places, people and ghosts from in the film. It will get you even more hyped up to play it.
