All of this plus a generous batch of bugs, we have Insomnia: the ark.The developers really put their heart in this game i think, but at the end, the player must enjoy it.

One minor (dropping through elevator floor when taking power armor off) and another very annoying. If you dismiss a companion during a mission, he tells that he will go to a base, but I have never seen those companions again.The story is very good. The missions are excellent. Character development is good, you cannot be a jack-of-all trades but that's ok.

It is simply the story that made me stick with this game, despite its numerous and insufferable bugs that this game is just riddled with, until the very end. One bug even blocked the MAIN quest line from progressing. Did nobody even do a play-through of this game? It's like an insanely talented Russian writer wrote a masterpiece and then handed said masterpiece to his teenage younger brother and told him to template a video game outta it. I hope future players can experience Insomnia (gold edition) to truly immerse themselves in a beautiful and engaging story that is Insomnia, The Ark.

For every bright spot there is a dozen of poor design choices, and don’t get me started on bugs — InSomnia needs a separate review just for them.

Behind the reasonably pretty shell Insomnia: The Ark consists of an unnecessarily complex core, for which fun is an unknown word.

Insomnia: The Ark has an exceptionally cool premise and a very complex story to tell but the game that Mono Studio built to house its vision doesn’t always do a great job. It simply moves too slowly and lacks a central narrative drive. It’s burdened by combat that is both hardcore and limited, and by lots of smaller issues that add up to a bigger overall impression of messiness and missed opportunities.

Not sure if it was a good idea to release it in such condition, it will hurt the public perception a lot, but I have no doubt that if it gets properly patched a few times over, there's a good game in there. Hopefully I'll be able to update the rate higher later.Right now you have a game with lots of influences from the Metro series, it the way it portraits a crude apocaliptic society and mixes supernatural elements ever so slightly. The difference is, this society is stuck in an automated space station, undergoing a 400 year journey to a new planet. Deep lore, and an interesting story, with lots of quests, main and secondary. Lots of customization options for your equipment, and a combat system that is satisfaying.But you also have poor objective tracking, maps that are hard to decipher, translation is a complete mess mixing russian and english all around, to the point of making it unplayable, unless you can read russian.Hopefully in a few months after a few patches we'll be able to enjoy it better.
