Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series レビュー&レーティング
Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series offers players a nostalgic look at a relatively unknown platformer with a cult following. This is undoubtedly the best way to experience these games, even if they are priced a little too high.
Klonoa was a wonderful series that didn’t last very long. It is incredible to see it come back, and more beautiful than ever. These games are truly chill and a joy to play and I am thrilled to see them come back. I hope Bandai Namco decides to give us a truly resurgence of the series, and maybe even DLC to add the portable versions that came out along the way. It is awesome we live in an age where even some of the obscure classics can make a return. Klonoa is still as charming as ever and I don’t want the series to disappear for another handful of years.
Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series has levels that are pretty linear, bosses that don't even take five minutes to be defeated and a generic formula, without innovation in the genre and deprived of heart.
Klonoa sees the revival of two beloved, but underappreciated platformer games from the early PlayStation years. While the graphics have been souped up, the gameplay is near identical including its unique use of catching and using enemies. Some quality-of-life changes have been made to make the games more accessible to both old and new players, most notably a more modern use of checkpointing.
Klonoa is one of those games that you HAVE to play. It’s a wonderful platformer with a story that has no right to be as good as it is. ThisKlonoa is one of those games that you HAVE to play. It’s a wonderful platformer with a story that has no right to be as good as it is. This remaster is a great opportunity to get it in a sleek now coat of paint. The game is as fun as it always been, even though it bit on the easy side. Don’t worry, if you collect all the people bubbles you’ll get a bonus stage. These are brutal, expecting you’ve mastered all the mechanics of the game.A nice bonus is that you’ll get the second game as well. Personally I think story wise it’s a bit weaker than the first, but gameplay wise it’s pretty much more with a few extra mechanics thrown in. When I started playing I was kinda worried that the snowboard sections would feel out of place, but gladly they’ve managed to incorporate in a way that would’ve also fit in the first one.Something that’s kinda odd is that Monkey Craft added a ‘pixel filter’. I don’t really understand why that’s there. If it’s for nostalgic reasons, it misses the boat because it doesn’t make either of these games look like their original form. In my opinion it just makes the game look ugly. I would’ve much preferred if they’ve just used the original graphics instead.
It might be easy to say that Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series is simply a pair of remastered games that can't compare to more modern platformers, but that's only half-true. Although their relatively low sales and cult status meant that the formula wasn't really given the chance to evolve, almost anyone can still jump into these games and have a good time. The lack of meaningful new content on par with Klonoa's Wii remake from 2008 is disappointing, but the content that is here is still worthwhile. Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series is a nice offering to underserviced fans, and can also be a good package for newcomers - or even people who are picking up a platformer for the first time.
On the plus side, the core gameplay is largely untouched from the original, and the new additions are universally positive. Besides normal enemies that function as before there are a few special enemies that add some new puzzles and challenges to the game. Of special note are the airboard levels, which are fast-paced levels where Klonoa rides a hovering snowboard through a linear obstacle course. While these have the distinct disadvantage of feeling like something that fell out of another game entirely, they do break up the flow of the game nicely.
Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series is the the Dream Traveler's revival that its fans waited for and what the series needed. With a graphical improvement that highlights its artwork and a difficulty selector that allows it to reach more types of players, this compilation reminds us that Klonoa still has a place in the platform genre.
At their core these are perfectly entertaining games, but are bewilderingly poorly presented. If we are to keep receiving ports of older titles on the Switch we should certainly be demanding ones that are put together with a bit more effort than this.
I’m so glad that Namco Bandai re-released these games during Klonoa’s twenty-fifth anniversary year. They hold up remarkable well over time and have aged beautifully. I sure hope we see more of Klonoa going forward.
The passage of time can sometimes be kind to classic games. Where Klonoa was once compared unfavourably to the far more “innovative” platformers that were doing the rounds, perhaps now it can be judged on its own merits instead, and while neither of the two Klonoa games are especially flashy or spectacular, the subtle and nuanced whimsy that sits at their core offers a particularly potent foil to the self-seriousness that far too many modern games – even platformers – express. Whether you’re replaying these for nostalgia or discovering them for the first time, Klonoa’s going to win you over with this collection.
From being the hero, Klonoa saves and meets new friends, playing through bright and original levels full of obstacles to overcome, defeating many foes, plenty of items to discover, and all-size bosses that are tough but that is what makes the game so much more entertaining. Of course, always winning the game, stopping them, and finally, you can call victory when completing the game, that is what makes this a game so worth playing and playing over again and again!
Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series is an excellent opportunity for more players to get to know the saga. Despite the years, its gameplay is very entertaining, even if the fun factor might be short-lived due to their short stories.
A largely successful collection of two great 2.5D games. The presentation is a mixed bag, some environments and characters look wonderful,A largely successful collection of two great 2.5D games. The presentation is a mixed bag, some environments and characters look wonderful, while others are a bit too simplistic.Gameplay is pretty basic, and focuses on a single mechanic for the most part, while introducing different elements and enemies which interact with that mechanic in various ways. I enjoyed how dynamic the camera made these stages feel; even though the games are played on a 2D plane the way in which the action is framed gives them a sense of three dimensionality. The levels are generally quite easy, though the attempting to get all the collectibles can increase the difficulty substantially. The gameplay doesn't feel the most polished, but it is engaging and pairs well with the colorful worlds. The second game in the collection increases the complexity and variety of the gameplay, with the notable addition of snowboard levels. Both titles preform well in most instances, with slowdown in specific cases. The narrative of the first title appears simple at first, but features some shockingly emotional moments which really caught me off guard. The second game doesn't quite match the first narratively, and contained a few too many cutscenes and plotlines for my tastes; with the climactic moments being less memorable than those in the first title. The music is a strong point in both titles, with many jaunty tunes and atmospheric tracks included. The music in the emotional sections of the game is quite powerful, and really helped to enhance those sequences.I enjoyed experiencing the two Klonoa games for the first time, and while this collection isn't perfect it does provide a good-enough way to play these titles on modern platforms.
Does Klonoa’s age show? Yes. Do these games still have a lot of charm after twenty years? Also yes. If you enjoy retro platformers, you really have no excuse for not playing Klonoa: Phantasy Reverie Series.
I expected more from this game but my baby would love it ( if i had a baby :(... ) if you have a kid , you must try this , and take your time

It does nothing groundbreaking or insanely wild. But it looks nice and is a kind of action/platforming game we don't see a lot anymore nowadays. The levels are all quite long but have interesting features in each of them. I like Klonoas movement, its easy to learn but hard to master. My only semi big complaint is that the attack only has a horizontal hitbox. Which means you need to get really close to attack an enemy, which itself is fine, but once you find an enemy that moves vertically by jumping or flying it gets a bit hard to hit that enemy with your tiny little attack. It is not a very difficult game, it reminds me of a kirby game. In the sense that the level's aren't very challenging but there is a lot to find in them. The boss fights are awesome, each boss is really unique with ideas ranging from pretty basic to quite neat ideas. Every level is fun to explore.I absolutely adore Klonoa and his character design and the animations and little voicelines he has. The cutscenes in this game seem to use original PlayStation sound files, so they kinda sound muffled and weird but I don't think that is a big deal personally.
It’s apparent that Phantasy Reverie Series was a budget job, but it stays in its lane and delivers two excellent games in one okay package. And yet this so-so port is maybe one of the greatest gaming gifts of the year. Thanks to it, I was able to reconnect with the simple pleasure of Door to Phantomile and also be introduced to the wonder that was Lunatea’s Veil for the very first time. After about eight hours spent across both titles, I’m reminded of how special these games are, in the whole grand pantheon of platforming icons there is still nothing quite like Klonoa. Thoughtful, intricate levels built around simple gratifying mechanics wrapped in a world that is dreamy and whimsical, yet with an undercurrent of melancholy.
Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series is one of the most oddly-named collections ever, but features two top-notch platformers in their definitive editions. Both the first and second games are wonderfully recreated, with better graphics and audio than ever before. They both benefit from having the same control scheme game to game thanks to being available on the same platforms for the first time ever. Those who missed out on them should give them a shot now, while anyone who enjoyed them before will want to check them out again and experience the best-possible incarnations of them yet. Hopefully, this leads to more full-on remakes throughout the series and maybe a collection of all of the original games down the road.
Make no mistake, Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series is the best way to currently play these two platforming classics and Namco has done a decent job of presenting these titles in the best possible light. With around 25 hours of dreamy, retro-styled platforming contained in this package, Klonoa veterans and younger platforming fans will find lots to love in the whimsical worlds and puzzle-platforming level design on offer here. Some performance issues aside, it’s tough not to fall in love with this duology. Catch it when you can.

Graphics are not quite what I would expect from a 2022 remaster and some of the decisions in the sound department are questionable but these flaws pale in comparison to the emotional and well written storys and the gameplay that is only topped by a handful of other games in the genre.
Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series contains two of the best 2.5D platformers out there. With adorable characters and a heart-wrenching story, it’s well worth diving into the world of dreams despite the less than bare minimum updates made. Wahoo!
Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series offers two games that are still an absolute joy to play, even if the price is too high and changes to the physics and mechanics do a bit of damage.

Such a lovely amount of care was put in these remakes. Totally recommend this game to any platformer games fan out there. There is a demo to give you a small idea of what you're getting into, but story-wise the demo won't tell you enough. This is the typical case of a game that fools people by its cute visuals, you will be surprised to see how deep and existential the plot of these games get. 100% recommendation.

The colors are super vibrant, and Klonoa's model has been updated very nicely in both games. The platforming is just as good if not better than the originals, and the difficulty select was a very nice and welcome addition. The heartwarming and heartwrenching story is as timeless as the gameplay, and I was crying tears of joy and despair as I made my way through these classics all over again. I even managed to get to the extra visions, which were a very good challenge and a nice reward for getting all the collectables. The only thing keeping it from being a 10 is a couple odd choices. The use of the original PS1 compressed audio for Door to Phantomile was odd, but and alright choice given the nostalgia factor. What isn't an alright choice was the odd mix of the Wii remake's re-recorded Phantomilian audio for some very specific moments. It was rather distracting as someone who's played both versions. The other two nitpicks I have is the first game's final boss model being a little lacking compared to all the others. That and the fact that Door to Phantomisle is based off the Wii version to a fault. It's a gorgeous version and the environments look great, but some elements suffer because of it. Mainly the cutscenes, especially the ending. The pre-rendered cutscenes from the PS1 game had a bit more heart and effort, but it's understandable given the nature of the Wii remake and the possible low budget. There were a few minor bugs, such as the game freezing for a half second, but nothing major or gamebreaking. (I am playing on an original PS4 and played Day 1 before patches). The Klonoa 2 remaster, on the other hand, was flawless for me. The addition of speeding up and/or skipping cutscenes makes repeated playthroughs very comfortable. This is the definitive version of Klonoa 2 for me.All in all, I am extremely happy that Klonoa has made a return and I dearly hope he is here to stay. If you haven't had a chance to play these games yet, do yourself a favor and play them through the Phantasy Reverie Series.Wahoo!

It's a simple platformer revolving around grabbing enemies and you can either throw them or use them as a double jump. It is a dynamic side-scroller, where you can only move left and right like a regular side-scroller, but the background and foreground can have items, like the Dreamers or the Ngapoko Eggs, in which you have to throw an enemy into the background or foreground. Not only that, but there are different paths which rotates the camera, changing the background/foreground into the field of play. I often found myself comparing each game to their originals, and I am pleasantly surprised at how faithful each game to the original. I was thinking I wouldn't have found myself liking that aspect as much, compared to Pokémon: Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, but here I am, praising it. This package deal is a perfect introduction to Klonoa, because many people, myself included, never played the originals as a kid, so this is the perfect chance to finally play this game, as well as save this series from obscurity.
Lacking some fan service, the two games within Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series still demonstrate why the franchise is so loved by many. Huge difficulty spikes stop the games being as well balanced as they should be, but the majority of the experience is a blast. It’s fun to negotiate the well-designed worlds and collect up everything they have to offer. You’ll just wish the rewards were more substantial.

Are you looking for a platform game that is both colorful and original? Then Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series is probably for you! On this compilation which brings together the first two opuses of the Klonoa series, Bandai Namco and the Monkey Craft studio deliver a solid redesign work, especially notable on the founding part. Despite a simple technique, the levels are colorful and very enjoyable to navigate. Of course, the level design remains that of a title from the end of 1990 and the beginning of 2000, which is felt in particular on Klonoa 1. Despite everything, the epic is enchanting and finds its climax during the second episode. In short, a nice nostalgic parenthesis!

As a fantastic representation of perhaps the most underrated series in platformer history, KLONOA Phantasy Reverie Series is a must for anyone with a soft spot for lighthearted yet tricky puzzle platforming fun. I hope this means KLONOA 3 will be a thing at some point.

Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series is a great collection for fans of 2D platformers, whether you’ve played these games before or not. Klonoa 2 is the standout title here, but both games are well worth playing, and should hopefully create a new generation of Klonoa fans. They certainly did with me, anyway - where’s Klonoa 3, Bandai Namco?
After nearly 25 years Bandai Namco gives us the opportunity to (re)discover two great classic platform games. A quite good remaster that could have been far better with some extra material, and the addition of the chapters released on portable consoles.
Klonoa Phantasy Reverie is a superb collection of platform games that shine a light on an iconic character from the genre, one that deserves this moment. Both games are full of fun and intricately designed levels, and not only look stunning, but are warm and welcoming.
