Everything feels so cumbersome and slow to me. Due to not owning a screen I am playing all of my games in portable mode, which has never been a problem. With this one, the small screen becomes a real pain after a while. Also the loading time for the rounds increases drastically while playing along, so that after a while I felt like I was spending far more time waiting than actually playing the game. Very little fun factor and disappointing. Some games are just not meant to be transferred onto switch.

Very few strategic changes comparative with hundreds that can be made. Watch reality... and watch this game. Civ is not Civ...it's just a joke. Years ago weak processors could have been an excuse. I recently bought and Xbox one X, and naturally started searching for a strategy game to play. I stumbled upon the various reviews in here, and everyone is yay-9/10 positive – so I thought yes this must be it! A little pricy but what the hell if it is fun. Opening the game for first time was quite a thrill, and I really liked the intro and especially the music composition. Then the fun stopped. After finally getting through the dreadful and confusing tutorial, I thought okay, I just need to learn this before it will get fun. But after several hours of really trying to get into this game, I just never got that feeling of excitement. The gameplay seems incredible messy with various parameters that just does not seem logical in any way. In each turn it just feels like: “hmm I can move my scout a few spots, hmm okay still 14 turns until the next unit it ready, move my scout a bit again, oh it’s my turn again..” Seriously I have never been so frustrated on a strategy game. There is no red thread, no overview, or general purpose of anything. Just feels very dull, unnecessary complicated, the parameters and stats illogical and just generally unrewarding and confusing. This game is not addicting in any way. And I really always otherwise always love strategy games. So I cannot get my head around these reviews in here.

Civilization was one of few franchises I would go back to PC gaming for. With a pretty decent port to PS4, it's now off that list.

Civilisation VI is very much a marmite kind of game – you’ll either love it or hate it. While I am indeed a fan (of marmite and Civ), I did feel slightly let down by the laggy performance and seemingly slower pace than I remember. The wonderful aesthetics manage to make up for this to a degree though, and if you’re after something to sink some real time into the Civ VI will absolutely be your cup of tea.

This is a game that you can pour hundreds of hours into, and still find rewarding gameplay and new strategies. Not to mention, it’s dangerously addictive. Clear your schedule for this one. Multi-hour gaming sessions have never gone by so fast.

The port of Civilization VI on PS4 and Xbox One is clean and meets our expectations. It's beautiful, and the functionalities, as well as the interface, are quick and easy to handle. The performances are close to those on PC, as long as you're not too demanding. The real problem lies mainly in long loading times, but you should not get them often. The extensions are sold separately and thus the price is too high, which is regrettable given the game was released 3 years ago. For those who don't have a decent PC, however, this is a good opportunity to get into this excellent title, or simply to discover the under-represented genre on consoles. You'll spend hundreds of hours playing, solo or multi, without even realizing it.

Civilization is a legendary strategy franchise, and to finally get it on Xbox One is a dream. Just be warned, this is one hell of an addictive game.

Civilization is finally back on consoles and boy is it still bloody fun to play. With plenty of new systems to get your head around, some fairly intuitive controls and the ability to wage war on your neighbours because they look at you funny, who can possibly say no to that?

Civilization VI is essential. Not only is it a game that's educational, informative, and inspirational (see my video above for more thoughts around that), but it's also deeply pertinent to today's world and gives players a way of seeing - and grappling - with the topic on their own terms. There are deeper strategy games out there (though not on PlayStation 4), but Civilization's accessibility and polish make it the perfect introduction to the genre, and while the PS4 port doesn't do anything beyond what was already on offer, this is still one of the best things released on the console this year.

Civilization VI is an excellent strategy game that offers numerous ways to play, and all of them are viable options. You can lead a peaceful nation or a war-mongering empire and still have an engrossing and rewarding experience like few others on PS4. Excessive load times, grating music, and some occasionally irksome controls are the only real downsides to what is otherwise the system's best strategy game, and a title that strategy fans can scarcely afford to skip.

"Rise & Fall"and "Gathering Storm" are packed into this console version. The gameplay experience and controls work perfectly. A must-buy for every Civilization game fan.

Civilization VI on consoles is basically the same game that you can play on PC. While the controls will take a little bit of getting used to, this is one of the best strategy games you can get at the moment and it's finally available on consoles with very few, if any, sacrifices.

But it is my place to note that when I go to Civilization, I’m looking for more than just a laid back single-player cities builder with the AI frittering idly in the margins. I cut my teeth on Sid Meier’s grand strategy without a brain-dead tactical layer drizzled over the top. I admire a lot of what Firaxis is doing to move on from the mess of Civilization V. They’re headed in the right direction, even if they are dragging a lot of baggage.

There's enough default automation that you can ignore a lot of the minutia if you want, but micromanagers like myself will still have all the tedium they can dream of. The civics and government/policies has also seen great updates which I think will be wonderful once modders get their hands on.Issues so far are mostly concerning some performance optimizations needed, ui scaling does not look crisp and sharp on 4k (1440p without ui scaling s the sweet spot), the map can be quite cluttered and hard to read and orient and the minimap is almost only useful to find where my cities are, not so much as an overview.
